ANA All Business Class Service Tokyo Narita to Mumbai India

ANA (All Nippon Airways) is the first Asian airline to take on the all-business class concept. Trans-Atlantic all-biz services are well established with PrivatAir operating flights on behalf of Lufthansa, Swiss and KLM. L'Avion also flies all-business from Europe to the US.

Let's have a look at ANA's service.

All Nippon Airways started the all-business class service from Tokyo Narita to Mumbai, India in September 2007. It utilises a Boeing 737-700ER (Extended Range) fitted with extra fuel tanks. This is similar to PrivatAir's use of the Boeing Business Jet.

The daily flight is timetabled as follows:

Tokyo Narita NRT to Nagasaki NGS
943 Departs 0925 Arrives 1150
Nagasaki NGS to Mumbai BOM
943 Departs 1240 Arrives 1905 Duration of Flights 12h20, Flight + Connection Time 13h10

Mumbai BOM to Tokyo Narita NRT
944 Departs 2015 Arrives 0755 (+1) Flight Duration 8h10

Note, the outward leg needs a 50 minute fuel stopover in Nagasaki. The return leg can be done non-stop due to the prevailing winds on the route.

ANA has fitted only 36 seats to the Boeing 737 in a 2-2 configuration. (PrivatAir uses 44-56 seats on its services). Seats have a pitch of 61", with width coming in at approximately 21". Customers get the usual business class service, with quality meals provided, an amenity kit and a hand-held media player with Audio-Video on Demand.

With business and trade booming in India and Mumbai being the financial capital, this ANA service makes a lot of sense. With standard return ticket prices ranging from around US $4,100 to $5,500 (£2,000 - £2,800), ANA should be able to take a good portion of the Japan - India business travel market.
