Using frequent flyer miles credit cards affiliated with major airlines can be a good way of earning more air miles for your dollar. You will earn mileage rewards while spending 'normally' on the card; book any flights with the airline on the card and you usually get bonus miles.

Australia has only one major airline Qantas which offers a number of different credit cards in association with various financial organisations. Listed below is a summary of each card and some of its travel benefits including how to get miles by spending on the card.

Finally there is the Earth+ from Westpac which issues holders with 2 cards - an American Express for accruing Qantas points and a Mastercard which is more accepted worldwide - both cards are combined to the same account. You earn 1 point per dollar spent with the Amex (and 0.5 points per dollar on the Mastercard.) Comprehensive travel insurance is included and the card costs $79 annually which is good value compared to competing cards.

As always, you should read and understand the terms and conditions before applying for any frequent flyer miles credit card.
